4.5.2 Course Objectives for the International Dentist Program

What are the objectives for the Pre-Admissions Hand Skills Course and Assessment?

The International Dentist Program is a three part course that provides an opportunity to learn with the objectives of providing evidence of:  1) Academic Performance and 2) Clinical Performance and creating a competitive by improving applications and personal statements, as well as preparing International Dentists for behavioral admissions interviews, and providing insights and analytics on future career options.  Once purchased International Dentists have 12 months to complete the course objectives.

Evidence of Academic Performance

Each course comes with 300 practice questions that are used in 6 unique INDBE practice examinations.  All questions and examinations are administered online via the PDS LMS, PDS Complete CE and are self-paced.  For dental schools, ASPs and AeGDs, who do not require the INDBE for admissions, the practice examinations are marketed as a gating requirement.  In addition to the practice questions and examinations, we provide a comprehensive board preparation course from Board Vitals for the INDBE that has 2,250 additional questions with:

You can customize practice tests by subject, track your progress with advanced analytics and reports, take a timed option to simulate real test conditions and compare your progress against the national average.

 

Evidence of Clinical Performance

The objectives are to assess your dental hand skills for Blocks, Restorative, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, and Periodontal procedures.  The assessment is scheduled a minimum of 3 weeks in advance in one our our testing locations and can be taken anytime during the 12 month duration of the program.  Clinical cases are simulated using Typodonts (Manikins) and the Simodont (Virtual Reality/Haptic Dental Trainer) and are graded objectively using machine grading.  Clinical cases include: 

  • Restorative Preparations and Fills:  #4DO and #30MO
  • Endodontic Access Openings: #4DO and #23ML
  • Prosthodontics Preparations and Crowns: #3 and #9
  • Periodontal Probing, Charting and Calculus Identification
