1.3.4 Taking the Course

What is the process for taking the course?

• If you are taking a self-service course:
  • Promethean Dental Systems utilizes the Simodont for self-service courses, which includes the following courses:
    • Pre-Admissions Hand Skills Course
    • Dental Licensure Preparation Course
  • Prior to starting your course , adjust the hand piece and mirror for right-handed or left-handed and move the foot pedal to a comfortable position. 
  • Raise or lower the Simodont to your comfort level by pressing the up or down button on the left side of the Simodont.
  • Raise or lower your stool to your comfort level, remembering to focus on ideal ergonomic position from which to work.
  • Finally, adjust the joystick to position the block to the position in which you wish to perform  the procedure. 
  • One you begin your course, please complete all course requirements for each session.  These requirements will be available by course in the course examples section of each course in the Knowledge Base.
  • When you have completed each case, press the Results button on the touch screen and then choose the Submit button.  The Simodont will ask you if you want to submit the case.  Select "No" when practicing and select "Yes" when you are submitting your scores.  Always submit one score per case per course session.  
  • When you have completed a case, begin your next case by selecting it from the  Home Screen.
  • Continue with the cases in your course until the course duration is complete.  
• If you are taking a monitored course:
  • Promethean Dental Systems utilizes the Learning Management System, Manikins, and the Simodont for monitored courses, which includes the following courses:
    • Pre-Admissions Bootcamp
    • International Dentist Program
    • Basic Installation Training
    • Advanced Installation Training
    • Hygiene Licensure Preparation Course
    • Hygiene Licensure Examination
    • Dental Licensure Examination
    • Continuing Education Didactic Courses
    • Continuing Education Simulation Courses, including Patient-Centric Simulation
    • Remediation CoursesIf you are taking a monitored course, your Monitor will meet you when you arrive and get you prepared for your course
  • Prior to starting your course , Your monitor will assist you in adjusting the hand piece and mirror for right-handed or left-handed and move the foot pedal to a comfortable position.
  • Your monitor will assist you in raising or lowering the Simodont to your comfort level by pressing the up or down button on the left side of the Simodont.
  • Your monitor will assist you in raising or lowering your stool to your comfort level, remembering to focus on ideal ergonomic position from which to work.
  • Finally, your monitor will assist you in teaching you how to adjust the joystick to position the block to the position in which you wish to perform  the procedure.
